With the recent addition of our Ingersoll-Rand industrial air compressor and ALC portable abrasive blasting machine, Durango Custom Works is pleased to announce the availability of abrasive blasting.

Different media types are available for different applications. Traditional sand-blasting, which we perform with a coarse media like steel grit or coarse glass, produces the quickest blasting results. It will remove paint, rust & scaling with little effort. We have also tried our hand with glass beads. Glass beads produce a very nice matte finish effect on metals, but may not remove heavy scaling. They can also be used for etching a variety of materials including wood, glass, & plastic. Lastly, we can perform what is typically referred to as soft-media blasting. Using a softer abrasive, such as ground Walnut shells or corn cobs, we can achieve a rustic graining technique when used on wood. The media removes only the softer wood areas, effectively raising the grain for a great rustic finish.
